A story told to me by my 3 ½ year old daughter Abby the day after Patton passed
away:
“The other day, there was a meadow, with tall grass and a hill. The meadow
and hill were very sad because they were alone. Just then, a big white puffy cloud came by. The cloud came down to see the
meadow. Seeing that it was sad, he asked why. Just then a flock of geese flew by looking for a place to rest. They saw the
cloud in the meadow and thought to themselves that it would be the perfect place to rest. So they landed. Far away, some mice
saw the meadow and the birds and thought that the meadow looked nice and would make a nice place to live. Soon there were
birds and mice and all kinds of creatures in the meadow. The meadow and the hill were very happy. Seeing that the meadow,
hill, grass and all the creatures were so happy, the cloud asked if he too could stay. With a big smile, the meadow said of
course you can. For you are the one who bought us this happiness and now it is now yours too.” |
